Sticky vs Non-Sticky Bonuses: Why the Difference Decides When You Can Withdraw

A non-sticky bonus keeps your deposit and the bonus in two separate balances: your own money is played first, and if you win before touching the bonus you can withdraw and simply lose the bonus. A sticky bonus merges both into one balance, cannot itself be withdrawn and is deducted at cash-out. The label decides whether a lucky start is yours to keep straight away or locked behind the full wagering.

How each type handles your balance

With a non-sticky bonus, sometimes called a parachute or hybrid bonus, the cashier tracks two wallets. Every bet comes out of the real-money wallet first. The bonus wallet only activates once the real balance reaches zero, and from that point the wagering applies. Until then, you are playing cash with a safety net behind it.

A sticky bonus works differently. Deposit and bonus sit in one balance from the first spin, the wagering applies to everything you play, and when you finally withdraw, the bonus amount is removed. You keep the winnings above it, never the bonus itself.

Point Non-sticky Sticky
Balances Two, real money played first One merged balance
Withdraw before wagering Yes, the bonus is forfeited No, wagering must be finished
Bonus at cash-out Never used or forfeited Deducted from the balance
Best for Short sessions, high volatility Long sessions with the full wagering planned

A worked example on a 150% match

Take Monro’s first-deposit offer, 150% up to €600 with x40 on the bonus. A €100 deposit brings a €150 bonus and €6,000 to wager. Now suppose, as a hypothesis, that the first spins push the €100 to €400.

  • Non-sticky: the €400 is real money. You request €400, the €150 bonus disappears, and nothing has to be wagered.
  • Sticky: the balance reads €550, but the €6,000 of wagering still applies. Once it is done, the €150 is deducted and only what remains above it leaves the account.

The losing case runs the other way. If the €100 goes to zero, a non-sticky bonus then gives you €150 to play with under the wagering, while under a sticky bonus you were already playing the combined €250 from the start.

Monro’s documents do not use either word. What they do settle is x40 on the bonus, a €5 maximum bet on the bonus page, a 10% fee on withdrawn deposits that were never wagered, and a validity of 72 hours in the official FAQ against 14 days on one review site. That validity gap is the one clause worth confirming in the cashier before you deposit.

The clauses that tell you which one you have

Few casinos print sticky or non-sticky in their headline. The answer sits in four places of the bonus terms.

  • Order of play. A line saying real money is wagered first is the clearest sign of a non-sticky structure.
  • Withdrawal during wagering. Vavada’s rule that withdrawing cancels an active bonus is the kind of sentence to look for: a request ends the bonus instead of freezing your balance.
  • Bonus removal. Wording such as the bonus amount being deducted at withdrawal points to sticky.
  • Cash-out cap. Snatch and iWild cap bonus winnings at 5x the bonus, Vavada at 10x. With a 5x cap, a €200 bonus can never become more than €1,000 withdrawable, whatever the label.

The wagering base changes the bill more than the label

A multiplier applied to the bonus alone and one applied to deposit plus bonus look alike in a banner and cost very different amounts. Same €100 deposit, five real offers:

Casino First-deposit match Wagering base Total to wager
Vavada 100%, €100 bonus x35 on the bonus €3,500
Wild.io 100% to 110%, $100 to $110 bonus x40 on the bonus $4,000 to $4,400
Monro 150%, €150 bonus x40 on the bonus €6,000
Lex 150%, €150 bonus x40 on deposit + bonus €10,000
Snatch 200%, €200 bonus x35 on deposit + bonus €10,500

Snatch’s bigger match ends up at almost three times Vavada’s wagering, and its 5x cap limits the withdrawable bonus winnings to €1,000. Wild.io’s bonus-only wagering also comes with no max-win cap on deposit bonuses, a rare combination. Bonus-only beats deposit plus bonus in every row, sticky or not.

Which type fits which player

The reader who plays high-volatility slots in short bursts wants non-sticky terms: one early hit on real money can be withdrawn without wagering a cent of bonus. The reader who plans to grind the full wagering anyway loses little with a sticky structure, since the bonus would be deducted at the end in both cases.

A Neosurf depositor should add one check. The voucher is deposit-only, so the bonus decision also decides how long the money stays on the account before a bank transfer, crypto or e-wallet payout. Monro takes Neosurf deposits, as do Drip, 1Go, Snatch, iWild, Katsubet and BitStarz. Vavada does not.

The crypto-only player faces a different set of rules. 22Bet disables bonuses on crypto accounts entirely, so the sticky question never arises there. 22Bit’s package unlocks one deposit bonus at a time, each only after the previous one is wagered, with slots alone counting and a 5 USDT maximum bet. Wild.io also counts slots only and gives the package 7 days, with 2 days for the free spins. In all three cases the deadline and the eligible games weigh more on the decision than the sticky label, and a max bet of 5 USDT turns 4,000 USDT of wagering into at least 800 spins.

For a deposit match with the lightest bill, Vavada’s x35 bonus remains the reference at €3,500 per €100. For the biggest raw match, Snatch’s 450% package gives more bonus money but asks for deposit-plus-bonus wagering. The welcome bonus guide ranks every package in the catalogue on the same basis.

Claiming Monro’s package with the clock in mind

Monro’s welcome runs over three deposits: 150% up to €600 on the first, up to 400 free spins on the second, scaled to the amount deposited, and 75% up to €300 on the third. The site has a French interface, an EUR account, more than 9,000 games and a sportsbook on the same balance, with Neosurf, BTC, ETH, USDT and TON in the cashier. The short validity is the constraint: deposit when you have time to play, not before a busy week.

Read Monro’s bonus terms for the free-spin tiers, then open a Monro account when you are ready to play the first deposit through. Monro does not accept residents of France, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo or Mali; Senegal, Cameroon, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea and Madagascar are open. From France, Vavada and Katsubet are the two casinos in this catalogue that take your account.

Two related reads: the full arithmetic of what 35x wagering costs, and 13 welcome bonuses compared on wagering, cap and max bet.

Player questions

What is a sticky bonus?

A sticky bonus is merged with your deposit into one balance and can never be withdrawn itself. You must finish the wagering, and at cash-out the bonus amount is deducted, so only the winnings above it leave the account.

What is a non-sticky bonus?

A non-sticky bonus sits in a separate wallet while your own deposit is played first. If you win on the real money, you can withdraw at any time and the bonus is simply forfeited; the wagering only applies once the bonus is in play.

What does a wagering requirement mean on a bonus?

A multiplier telling you how much has to be staked before the bonus, and anything won with it, becomes withdrawable cash. At x40 on a €150 bonus that is €6,000 of bets; at x40 on deposit plus bonus, with a €100 deposit, it becomes €10,000.
